Charlie Laird was a professional racing photographer for the three years 1969 - 1971. It was a time of unbridled enthusiasm for the future, as we believed we would soon be living on the moon, but we now realise that it was also the most dangerous time in Motor Sport history. However, none of the photographs in this this book and portfolio have ever been published. 
This is a story about people who went “missing” … lost inside and enthralled by a world outside reality, where they found a part of themselves they couldn’t find anywhere else. Not just the drivers, but everyone inside Racing and especially the fans, who were always more than happy to be intoxicated and addicted to those rare “emotional cocktails”, shaken and stirred into existence by those that cheated death every time they got behind the wheel. It’s about trying to understand  exactly why those souls were so happy to go missing, regardless of the consequences. What made them tick? … those that served up those cocktails and what made us tick, always longing to take a sip? Now, finally, almost 60 years later, through the lens of Charlie Laird, we get a chance to “find” those that went missing…
